Nursing is one job that requires you for dressing functionally. The good thing is that the tips below can help you meet that goal.
- Active Scrubs- Dressing Functionally
It all starts with your scrubs. These have to be flexible, breathable, and soft on your skin. You’ll be running here and there, so make sure you look for active wear scrubs.
Be sure to pay attention to whether or not your scrubs have pockets. Some companies sell scrubs without pockets, and you’ll need those.
You are going to be reaching and crouching while working, so you need clothes that’ll keep you covered and comfortable.
- Comfortable Shoes
The shoes have to be of high quality. They have to keep you comfortable for hours. As a nurse, you are pretty much going to be on your feet all day.
Your shoes shouldn’t only be light but sturdy. Don’t get shoes with holes. You might be tempted to get something more breathable, but you never know what will fall on your shoes while you’re working, be it vomit or something else. Closed shoes are the way to go.
- Compression Socks
Compression socks are a must for you. Sure, people only talk about these socks when they’re trying to reduce swelling, but they offer much more than that. Compression socks promote good blood circulation throughout the day, and they prevent leg fatigue.
If all that wasn’t enough, these sorts of socks can help fight varicose veins, which is a possibility for you since you put so much pressure on your legs while you’re working. It’s crazy that so much good can come from you wearing these sorts of socks, but it’s true. It’s the kind of investment all nurses should make.
- Strong Hair Bun
You don’t want your hair getting in the way while you’re at work. Remember that a nurse can be near all sorts of things, including feces from patients. The last thing you want is for your hair to fall into anything like that.
What’s worse is that sometimes you’re exposed to all sorts of infections or germs. It is vital to put your hair in a bun or ponytail. You can use hair pins or whatever you can to secure this hairstyle during your shift. If you feel like your hair needs to be redone for some reason, then don’t hesitate to do so before you keep working.
You need to get used to wearing watches again. It’s kind of strange to say that in today’s day and age when all you need is your phone, but it’s the truth. A phone is inconvenient when you are working, yet you’ll need to know the time.
You can drop your phone into all sorts of things, and you don’t want that as you can imagine. Make sure the watch you get can be easily disinfected, which means no ridges. You’ll probably want a waterproof watch, just to be safe.
