In summer, it’s hard to avoid the sun. It’s a big part of our lives and we’re all guilty of forgetting to protect ourselves from its harmful rays.
Sun protection is important for many reasons. First, you want to protect your skin from sun damage and skin cancer. Second, you want to protect your eyes from UV rays that can cause cataracts and other damaging effects on the eye. Finally, you want to protect your hair from heat damage caused by prolonged exposure to sunshine.
Many people choose not to wear sunscreen during the summer because they feel it makes them look greasy or oily. In fact, wearing sunscreen is one of the most effective ways to prevent skin cancer because its SPF rating (or sun protection factor) blocks harmful UV radiation until it reaches an SPF of at least 30.
If you don’t wear sunscreen, you may end up with a sunburn or worse. As well as sunscreen, you should be wearing sun protection items on the beach, such as women’s sun protection shirts. Here are some other items you can wear to protect yourself on the beach:
- Wear a hat
Wearing a hat can help protect your face from the sun and prevent damage to your skin. Many people don’t think about this when going into the water, but hats are actually necessary when enjoying any outdoor activity that involves water. They’ll also protect your ears from getting too much sun exposure and keep them cool during hot summer months.
- Wear a T-Shirt
The best sun protection for your skin is a long-sleeve shirt. That’s because you’re covered from the neck down and have more options for coverage. If you wear a t-shirt, try to avoid dark colors like black or navy blue, which tend to absorb more UV rays than lighter shades. Instead, look for white or light colors with a hint of color like red or pink.
Make sure the shirt has a high UPF rating (50+). The higher the UPF number, the more sun protection it provides. If you have sensitive skin prone to burns, look for UPF 50+ shirts with extra fabric coverage around your neck and shoulders for extra sun protection on those areas of your body where burns most often occur during summer months.
Buy a shirt that fits well, but isn’t too tight or too loose. It should fit snugly but not so tight that it’s uncomfortable to wear. The best way to find the right fit is to try on a few different brands and styles until you find the one that fits best.
- Wear a Long Sleeve
The sun’s ultraviolet rays are dangerous to your skin, and you need to protect yourself from them. If you don’t wear long sleeves, you may get sunburn and skin cancer later in life. Sunblock is an important part of protecting yourself from the sun, but it doesn’t do nearly as good a job as a long sleeve shirt does.
The best type of clothing for protecting yourself from the sun is long sleeves. Long sleeves protect your arms from getting burned by the sun’s rays, which are very damaging to your body. Longer sleeves also keep you cooler when it’s hot outside, which can help prevent heat exhaustion or even heat stroke in some cases.
If your doctor has told you that you need to wear long sleeves because of rashes on your skin or other health problems caused by the sun, then wear whatever type of garment they recommend in addition to using sunscreen on exposed areas of your body like your face and neck every day for at least 30 minutes at a time.
