What Are The Health Benefits Of CBD Oil Backed By Science?

As the hottest new health product, there is a lot of talk surrounding CBD oil. Many have deemed CBD to be the miracle molecule with claims that CBD can treat a number of conditions ranging from anorexia to AIDS. With so many different claims out there, it can be hard to separate what CBD can actually do with what it can’t. In an effort to help readers understand CBD’s potential capabilities, we’ve read through many of the latest research studies to pull out the benefits of CBD oil that are actually backed by science. In this blog, you will know What Are The Health Benefits Of CBD Oil.

Before diving into the benefits, it’s important to remember that substances don’t interact with everyone’s bodies in the same way. You may not necessarily receive the same benefits CBD has offered others and more research is needed to fully understand what CBD is capable of.

1) Pain Relief

The use of cannabis for pain relief may be new to you, but Cannabis has been used to relieve pain for centuries. There are transcriptions dating as far back as 2900 B.C. that describe the use of cannabis for pain related to a variety of conditions from malaria to gout and muscle spasms.

Are the claims and uses founded in science? Studies have shown that CBD can help to reduce pain (especially chronic pain). In a study conducted on rats, researchers found that CBD injections helped to reduce the pain caused by surgical incision. Yet another study conducted on rats found that oral CBD treatment significantly reduced inflammation and sciatic nerve pain

It’s believed that CBD helps to reduce pain by binding to the G-protein receptors known as TRPV-1. The TRVP-1 receptors are responsible for regulating pain, body temperature, and inflammation.

2) Neuroprotective Properties

An area where CBD is gaining huge momentum is in help for neurological disorders. Medical researchers believe that CBD’s ability to act on the endocannabinoid and other brain signaling systems can provide benefits for those suffering with neurological disorders.

In fact, the popular CBD brand, Charlotte’s Web, was featured in the 2013 CNN documentary “Weed” – as Charlotte’s Web products were used by Charlotte Figi to reduce her epileptic seizures.

Researchers are most interested in utilizing CBD for epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. One particular study analyzed patients with severe epilepsy and found that receiving .9-2.3 grams of CBD oil per pound of body weight reduced seizures by 36.5%

Outside of epilepsy and multiple sclerosis, CBD is also being studied for its potential to aid with other neurological disorders. Studies have shown that CBD has helped to improve the quality of sleep for individuals suffering with Parkinson’s disease. Yet another study conducted on mice found that providing CBD to mice that were genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s helped to prevent cognitive decline

3) Alleviation of Cancer-Related Symptoms

Scientists have found that CBD has helped to reduce certain symptoms related to cancer and many side effects that come with cancer treatment.

One particular study found that patients undergoing chemotherapy who were given a mouth spray consisting of both CBD and THC had reduced rates of vomiting and nausea compared to patients only given chemotherapy treatment.

A study conducted on mice with breast cancer found that CBD helped to inhibit the spread of aggressive breast cancer cells. Moreover, a test-tube study conducted on human breast cancer cells found that CBD also induced cell death in human breast cancer cells

While the test-tube and animal studies are promising, more research will certainly be needed before conclusions can be drawn.

4) Reduction of Anxiety & Depression Symptoms

Anxiety and depression are mental health disorders that are growing rapidly in occurrence for teens and adults. These disorders have a devastating impact on health and well-being, but CBD may be able to help.

CBD has been effectively used to help with insomnia and anxiety in children with post-traumatic stress disorder. In a study where individuals were given either CBD or a placebo before a simulated public speaking event, researchers found that individuals given a 300-mg dose of CBD did have reduced anxiety compared to those given the placebo. Studies have also found CBD to have effects similar to antidepressants in various animal studies

5) Acne Reduction

As a topical, CBD may be able to help reduce acne. There are a number of promising studies that have found benefits to using CBD for acne.

A test-tube study found that CBD oil prevented sebaceous glands from secreting excessive sebum. The study also found that CBD oil exerted anti-inflammatory actions and prevented the activation of inflammatory cytokines, which act as pro-acne agents. Yet another study had similar findings, concluding that CBD oil is a safe and efficient way to treat acne.

6) Reduction In Blood Pressure

Finally, CBD has been shown to have benefits for the circulatory system and heart. Studies have indicated that CBD can help to lower high blood pressure.

One particular study found that individuals given a 600 mg dose of CBD oil had reduced resting blood pressure compared to those given a placebo. The study also found that individuals given CBD who were put through a stress test designed to raise blood pressure had smaller increases in blood pressure compared to those given a placebo.

It’s believed that CBD’s stress and anxiety reducing properties are what lead to lower blood pressure. CBD inhibits the breakdown of anandamide (the bliss molecule), which leads to a larger concentration of anandamide in the body. The increased concentration gives individuals the calming, anxiety reducing effects.

Thus, CBD oil is a wonderful complementary holistic health product. While there is still much to learn, CBD has proven to provide many different health benefits and can be a powerful natural aid for an abundance of different issues.
