People think meditation is just  chanting and breathing and it cannot provide with any actual benefits at all. How wrong notion is this?

You can understand what meditation is and how powerful it can be if you do it properly. There are many ways to meditate. Yoga is a kind of mediation that millions of people do regularly. It is an excellent kind of exercise because it is gentle and can help you build up strength, balance, and calms the mind.

Traditional forms of meditation involve lying down on the floor or a mat comfortably and chant, focus on breathing, count, listen to relaxation music, listen to prerecorded guided mediation or perform your own guided meditation.

summer health tips

Weather is turning hot and sultry, it is good to increase your intake of fluids and take precautions if you are spending long hour’s outdoors. Carry water bottle wherever you go. Instead of taking energy drinks, take nimbu paani, coconut water or fresh juices. That is good for health.Don”t wait till you feel thirsty. Keep sipping water in between. Body gives some signs if it is dehydrated. If your urine is yellow or if you feel very tired or if the heart rate is increasing, immediately stop going out in summer and take rest and take a well balanced diet.
Avoid extreme hot or cold drinks and avoid red meat.
Wear a light cotton dress. Allow your skin to breathe.
Use a sunscreen lotion when you go out to avoid sunburn.
Ask children to take plenty of water, buttermilk, sherbet, nimbu paani when they are playing out for a long time.
Allow children to go to the swimming classes.

Diet for a healthy heart

To have a healthy heart, our blood cholesterol should be under control. How to control cholesterol levels?  Take an optimal balance of carbohydrates, vegetables, proteins, unsaturated fats and fruits. Reduce salt, sugar, fat in your diet. Clear understanding of healthy food and unhealthy food is the first step towards the healthy heart.

Count your calories

The main source of calories is from proteins, carbohydrates and fats. At least once consult with a dietician and know how much calories you need according to your age, height, weight and work. If you are above 40 years, you should definitely do this. For desk jobs 2000 calories is fine and for a lobour intense job 3000 calories.
